The Process
Developing a website is a team effort between O'Neil Web Works and you. We will do our best to get to know you and your company so that we can capture who you are, portray that on the internet and determine how your website can best serve you and your customers. All websites are developed from scratch, so your site will be unique in representing you and your business.
Initial Consultation
The first step in the process is the initial consultation. Gather your ideas for content and flow, and we will meet with you to clarify your goals, define the scope of the project and discuss ideas you have about the website. We then provide you with a proposal based on the information gathered.
Design and Development
Should you decide to proceed with the project, we do website research and competition analysis and begin developing the design and structure of a web page. If you don't already have one, we can help you choose a suitable domain name for your website, arrange hosting services and set up your email accounts at this point. Domain registration and web hosting/email costs depend on the hosting service provider and the specific services you choose, and they are billed separately from our website design services.
The website design may include your logo, company colors, slogans, and anything else that makes your company unique, and it will be developed to be easy to navigate for your website visitors. When you are satisfied with the design, we continue to add content (text and images) and create the remaining web pages. We can use text that you have already written or we can create copy through brief oral or written interviews with you about what you do and how you do it. We'll make use of any photos or images you have, or we can take the photographs and create the images ourselves. Throughout the development process, we regularly test the website to check compatibility with a variety of browsers and develop clean, compliant code, properly working links and well written content. When complete, we'll move the site to the 'live' server.
Search Engine Optimization
O'Neil Web Works provides standard search engine optimization (SEO) for all our website design projects. At its most basic level, SEO involves a properly coded website, well written meta tags, keyword-rich content and the submission of the site to search engines for indexing. Additionally, you can help boost your search engine ranking by identifying and having other websites link to your site.
Maintenance
The website is owned by you, the client. To remain competitive and keep your website working for you, we recommend that you update your website regularly. Maintenance and updating of your web site can be done by you, by us, or both, as you prefer. Updating the website may require a knowledge of website coding that you may not possess or care to learn. If this is the case, it may make more sense for us to maintain your site for you. We can even help you maintain a website that we did not originally create. As an additional maintenance service, O'Neil Web Works can track your website traffic and visibility on the internet and provide you with activity reports and recommendations for site improvements.
